Speech [Problem of Iran, Muslims and the Islamic countries]

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

I should thank the clergies for taking the trouble to come in this cold weather to honor us, with their presence. I should also thank women and girls from Qum, the revolutionary guards, Reconstruction Jihad, the theology students from Kashan and others. May God grant success to all of you to stay faithful to Islam and its aspiration till your last breath, and not to fear any plot or threat.

We have different kinds of problems. Some of them are domestic as you all know such as the war, the corruptions caused by perverted groups and the shortages. All these seem to push us backward. Now that you gentlemen, the entire nation and we are together and united, we can solve the domestic problems. Today, we do not have a problem that is not solvable. Of course, we lack judges and preachers, a problem that the clergies in Qum theological seminaries can tackle through effort and hard work.

Today, there is a dire need for judges; we need many thousand judges; Iran needs them and this need should be filled through the effort of the `ulama' and instructors of the Qum Theological Seminary- may God assist them- even in the long run, though not very long. Similarly, there is a dire need for preachers; therefore, they should be trained. We are short of preachers everywhere: in cities, villages, war zones and factories. Time and again, people come over here and complain that they do not have preachers. Theological seminaries must make efforts to meet this need; God willing, it will be fulfilled since it is not a big thing. At first, the war looked like something horrifying and very grace, but it became clear that its benefits outweigh its losses. In the wake of the war, a kind of harmony sprang into all strata of the nation and a spiritual sense came forth in the dear soldiers, the army, the revolutionary guards and the gendarmerie. This spirit of cooperation in the entire nation from women, men to the whole country made it clear to the world that what is happening in Iran is different from elsewhere. This is because the revolution originated in the nation and it was the nation that made it bear fruit; it is the nation that will push aside everything that stands on the way of this revolution and, God willing, it will be resolved very soon.

As regards the question of inflation, it has been repeatedly said that those who monopolize and sell at high prices should be fair to people who relieved them of suppression and who put an end to the question of insecurity with their blood and through their struggles. It is not fair to deal wit this nation in such a way. You know that it is the oppressed people that bear the brunt of inflation and monopoly, it is a problem for them and not for the upper crust, because they have resources and money and can afford any price. The oppressed people bear this brunt and the burden of the revolution on their respected and strong shoulders. I hope this problem would be overcome with the fairness of sellers and the rich and with the attention of those in charge. These domestic problems should be resolved even if it takes a long time.

Thank God, the Reconstruction Jihad as reported by the gentleman, makes one happy. I hope there will be more activities to reach out more to the villages and the deprived people who have been oppressed throughout history. I appreciate all the efforts and hope from now on Mr. Nuri who has entered this group will resolve the problems whatever they might be under his guidance and with effort of the other respected brothers. Parts of our domestic problems must be solved by us; the entire nation should try to do this. Those who can work should work and those who can farm should farm. This economic problem will be resolved by the nation and we can thus attain self-sufficiency.

The problem of the university has been and will be resolved. I have to criticize some newspapers that change the course of a subject in their headlines. We believe that the universities must be reopened. When they are opened they should make effort towards Islamization. Clergies and other wings should bring the universities in line with Islamic education. But we sometimes see that the newspapers are saying unless the universities are reformed they should not be reopened. Sometime they quote me as saying so.

I say that reforming universities take a long time, but we can not wait that long to open the universities. Another point I would like to make to the Cultural Revolution Council is that from what I have been told, they are very fussy, no doubt the deviants who want to corrupt the atmosphere of universities must not be let in. Those who made the universities a stronghold and set up a war room and were creating all the corruptions should be identified and pushed aside. However, some of them are girls and boys, who committed small offences in the past and repented should be accepted in universities, as the door to repentance is open and we should not disappoint the youth. The clergies should not argue that since they did something wrong, they should be expelled from the university. No, the door of repentance is open. God has left the door of repentance open for all. Of course, corruption in not sanctioned, but those who repented and those who did something wrong such as girls or boys who are repentant should be given. We should embrace them; God accepts their repentance. They have made it to the university, so do not make them lose hope. The youth are the resources of this country. If they were engaged in corruption, they have now repented. Therefore, the universities should be reopened with seriousness. Eventually, it should be Islamized by including Islamic education.

We have a problem related to Muslims and the Islamic countries that should deal with it. They and you all know that whatever has befallen Muslims is caused by the superpowers. That which can resolve the problems is the unity of expression. Muslim nations and governments should come together to drive this germ of corruption and cancer from tumor, Zionism Islamic countries. Zionism is the archenemy of Islam and is after attacking and seizing your countries one after the other. Instead of sitting together to counter it, you converge and talk in their favor. All the concern voiced by some of these countries is that Iran wants to implement Islam. Iran shouted from the start that Muslims should unify their rank to liberate Palestine and Quds. Everyday, the opponents say something about Iran. For example, they claim Iran has ties with Israel. What is your motivation? You whom Israel insults and that disrespects Israel wants to take the Golan Heights by force without caring for any power, are supposed to get united to get rid of such a corrupted germ. If you do not get rid of it, cancerous tumor will spread to other places. It will not stop at Golan; they see Israel as most superior race to command lands from Euphrates to the Nile. However, you sit there and fight about very unimportant things. You have focused all your efforts on Iran lest it should raise a word. Iran shouts that it does not have any intention to transgress upon other governments and nations and calls for unity with them to get rid of corruption in the region is subject to hostility. Why should it be like that?

Leaders of the country, intellectuals and the scholars should be aware who the enemy is and who the friend is. The enemy must be driven out and the friend united with. These problems must be resolved by all Muslims. As long as there is not unity among Muslims, these problems will persist. This is a general problem for all Muslims.

Another problem is for the entire world, particularly the oppressed people of the world. America and the Soviet Union are behind this and other problems. If America did not back Israel, would Israel occupy Palestine? Would Israel claim that Golan Heights belonged to it and registered it for itself? If there were no America and this devil power was not there, would all this corruption have happened in Islamic countries? All the bloodshed in the Islamic countries is triggered off by America. America and whoever is on its side are like that; the same is true about the Soviet Union. If the world wants to get liberated from corruption, all the oppressed people should join hands and limit their powers in their own countries. Israel comes and annexes the Golan Heights to its other usurped territory. These organizations not made by nations, but by a few big powers set them up, put up a show and make up an image and what they do together, a majority group votes for that side and America comes and vetoes it. This is worse than the law of the jungle. The law of the jungle is the government of the bully, but they govern and do worse than the jungle and they want to deceive the nations that we have human rights organization, we have the United Nations. What America and the Soviet Union do is worse than what happens in the jungle and later the UN comes, does some maneuver and puts up a show, and if the majority votes against they know that it will not have any influence. When they all vote against and it does not have any effect because with one" No" from America, the question is settled, what they do is not an act of rescinding? Who are they fooling? The point is that they set up these organizations. If it were not made by them, on what ground would one country or a handful of countries have the bullying right of veto? This too was made by them right from the start to fool small nations and the oppressed people of the world. There is nothing worse and more horrible than this crime in the world. Law of the jungle is instinctive; they settle their wrongdoing based on this instinctive law. But those organizations and those who made them take away all the dignity of humanity in the name of human rights, how can you be on the side of human rights while all the crimes in the world are committed by these two superpowers that do not raise a single word. When they raise any voice at all, it is more like a joke than a serious objection. At which point they talk about things related to Iran. They expect Iran to listen to what they say. Iran got hold of the Islamic way and all these organizations are agents of the superpowers.

Finally, if the oppressed people of the world want to live an honorable life, they should all unite together and put limitations on the power of these powerful countries enjoying the veto right.

May God save the world from the evil of the superpowers and save the Islamic nations from their internal devil and bring more harmony for our nation and grant success to scholars, teachers and intellectuals to perform as well as they have done so far.
