Speech [Reflection and impact of birth anniversary of the prophet of Islam (s) in the world]

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Reciprocally I congratulate all of you and all world Muslims and great Islamic nations, particularly the people of Iran on this great feast that should be said these two feasts, the feast of birth of Prophet of God (May God's peace be upon him and his progeny) and feast of the birth of Imam Sadiq (May God's peace be upon him). I appreciate you gentlemen for taking the trouble to come here, particularly those who are serving in Khark Island and hope that the Blessed and Almighty God will accept their troubles and services.

What I wanted to talk today is that in the birthday of the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his progeny) some events have occurred. Rare issues have been related in our narrations and those of Sunni people and these issues should be investigated. One of them is the collapse of Kasra «1» vaulted hall and fall of 14 turrets of the palace and the other being the fact that Fars Fire Temples were extinguished and the idols fell on the ground. «2» Shatter of Kasra Vault might be implied that in time of this great prophet the dome of oppression would break, particularly the Kasra Dome was broken because at that time this Kasra Dome was center of tyranny of Anoushirvan.

Anoushirvan contrary to what was contrived by the then poets and courtiers by Zoroastrian priest of the then court was one of the tyrants of Sassanid period. A narration has been fabricated, attributing it to the Prophet of God (May God's peace be upon him and his progeny) as saying that" I was born in time of the rule of just king Anoushirvan". This narration has no source and is mursal «3» and lie ascribed to the Prophet (s). He should be described as Anoushirvan the tyrant, no the just. In time of Anoushirvan there existed four or five superior class. They were distinct. In addition to the monarchical machinery with that situation it had developed, there was a group of princes and courtiers who were a separate and privileged class. Another group consisted of those with assets and properties and, borrowing their words, noblemen. They were also privileged. Another group consisted of army commanders and the like; they were also privileged. Finally, there were people, the craftsmen who worked, while the privileged class availed of their toiling. The higher class shunned from tax and refused to do military service. In their system the lower class, the craftsmen, were obliged to serve and their services were enjoyed by the higher class. The craftsmen were responsible to do military service and participate in war; they worked and the privileged class benefited from their service. The privileged class did not allow the lower class to receive education. It was forbidden for them. This fact has been highlighted in the Book of Kings [by Ferdowsou]. Boudharjomehr submitted him a complaint to the effect that the expense has reduced and army needs means of livelihoods and among the lower class there are individuals who possess property. Then they searched and found one who are said to have been a shoemaker who said, as quoted in the Book of King, he would pay provided that his son would be permitted to study. The story was reported to him, but he turned down and said we neither want his money nor do we give such permission, arguing that if we let one from lower class to study, he will then interfere in affairs and this is not possible. This is the justice developed by Anoushirvan. History has recorded the crime they have committed. I do not think in the entire chain of kings even one right one has existed. However, propaganda was numerous. Those propaganda operations were made favoring Shah `Abbas despite the fact that in Saffavid Dynasty no were wicked than Shah `Abbas. In Qajar Dynasty Nasir ad-Din was so admired and nicknamed the martyr Shah and the like, while he was a perfidious tyrant and more wicked than others. These propaganda efforts have always existed. The dispensation of justice attributed to Anoushirvan is like the US president's love of peace and like those of the Soviet communists. Now in this era we observe these things and if historians and I do not know poets and preachers and courtiers these propaganda efforts now underway in the world are conveyed to individuals who are not aware of events, they will imagine President of the US is peace-lover and justice-seeker and the like just as much as Anoushirvan the Just was just. However, you who are aware know what the story is.

So many clamors were launched for prevention of terrorists; so much propaganda was mounted, accusing Iran of nurturing terrorists and listing Iran as a terrorist country. Iraq was erased from the list because it has prostrated before the US; Iran was dubbed terrorist because it did not care a rap for them, this was the criteria in their sight for being branded terrorist, while they are themselves nucleus of terrorists. If they kill people and butcher them there is no objection. Then they attribute terrorism to Iran, raising voice that in our prisons there are killing. What is your evidence? Munafiqin terrorists have reported. This was their correct document. Their evidence is that opponents of the Islamic Republic said killings have occurred in prisons. Without trial, they are killing people and the like. A subject of this nature is so widely covered in their mass media apparatuses. They repeatedly air these fabrications. Since we are opposed to them, their mass media machinery refuses to air even if the matter is correct. However, if they hear a subject from the like of munafiqin, they broadcast it repeatedly. The Khark Island was hit. Right! Some parts of it are not working. It is clear they hit it, but could they cut Iran's oil? They couldn't. Now, despite hitting the Island, a group of them admits that oil is produced as in the past, if not in greater amount. Now, they say Iran's oil has been run out. It was finished. I do not know how many times the Khark Island should have been destroyed. The first time they hit, they said we leveled the Island to ground. So, it should not have produced a drop of oil if it is mere soil! Then in 49 times they say they hit recently in several occasions. Each time they say they destroyed it. Right, how many times one destroys one thing? This is the situation of the world. Then there is no dispute among foreign radios on this wrong subject they air. There is no objection to the contradictory remarks, no word. However, as soon as one in objection raise a word, something is attached to it and their propaganda horns launch propagating. The situation of the world today is such; it revolved around lie.

The fact that 14 turrets of the palace of oppression were damaged does not seem to you if it will happen in 14 th century or 14 century later. It might appear that the foundation of monarchical tyranny would be likely to collapse 14 century later and thank God it did. The idols fell on their faces and these idols will also wreck, whether the idols caved by stone or the ones made by some nations from individual human being. These are also perishable, but we are impatient to see. The whole world from beginning to the end is of one quality in the sight of God Almighty; there is not this or that side, nor a long way to. In our sight, it is far away lasting 1000 years, 2000 years. However, it is near; it is close and possible. The idols will break, God willing. Seditions, idol-worshipping and fireworshipping will also be destroyed, God willing.

I hope that God Almighty grants health to the heroic people of Iran and make the Unity Week a real unity, not simply a ceremonial Unity Week. We need unity for years to come. The holy Qur'an has ordered us and Muslims to be united. This unity is not for one year, 10 year or 100 years; it is for the entire course of the world and history. We practically need to realize unity and preserve it. I hope that in light of unity of the people of Iran, this unity can be followed in other Islamic countries, as it is done and all Muslims get unity against the enemies as provided by narrations. «4»

I hope God will grant you success and never give in to fear from these outcries and propaganda ploys of foreigners. The fear should be far of God Almighty. Do not fear other powers, because there is no power other than that of the Truth. It is the power of God Almighty whose manifestation, has found expression across the world of nature. You should never fear and stand firmly and resist all powers. God is with you and will preserve you against the evil of the wicked, and will rescue your country. What counts is that God should be satisfied with you.

I should say that the main goal of the Prophet has so far been meagerly fulfilled. Tomorrow, court akhounds (Imperial clerics) might say so and so said the Prophet was not able to cope with the situation. If prophets' purpose had been fulfilled, these court akhounds were not today present. If purpose of prophets had been fulfilled, the US government and I do not know others were not present today. If they say the purpose of prophets has been achieved and so much corruption prevails in the world, then it becomes clear that the purpose of prophets has been corruption that has found expression. Purpose of prophets has not been fulfilled. If we say purpose of prophets, we are unable to gain access to the purpose sought by prophets. Their purpose was beyond what we seek. Prophets did not seek government. Government was for other purpose; it has not been the destination. All purposes return to knowledge of God. Whatever happens in the world and whatever the prophets sought revolved around knowledge of God. If knowledge of God is actually achieved, it will ensure everything else. All the corruptions coming about in the world stem from lack of faith in God. Even though the knowledge of God might find expression, there is lack of faith. If faith in God finds reality, everything will ensue; all virtues will ensue. Prophets sought to push man towards knowledge of God gradually. All other things are prelude to this concept. All the things from which prophets suffered were that people were moving towards the hell. Prophets are embodiment of God's compassion; they want all people to be good; they want all people to have knowledge of God; they want all people to enjoy happiness. When they see people proceed towards the hell, they feel pity. The holy Qur'an says:" Yet it may be, if they believe not in this statement, that thou (Muhammad) wilt torment thy soul with grief over their footsteps." «5» If they were not believer, the question is that all prophets struggled to acquaint people with God.

As you see in the supplications of our Immaculate Imams (`a), in Kumayl invocation you notice what the Commander of the Faithful prays. He say let us suppose I could tolerate the fire, how I can endure remoteness from You? What did they supplicate? What words are traded in Sha`baniyah invocation? In the Prophets' purpose in supplications handed down from Immaculate Imams (`a) there are many hints. The holy Qur'an has many elegant allusions, but since they have been provided for people, they have been done in a way that both elites and common people can comprehend. The holy Qur'an is replete with mysticism and is the source of all knowledge, yet its understanding is difficult. Those who were addressed by the Qur'an and those who were associated with the Messenger of God understood what the story is. They know the purpose of prophets. They are aware of the purpose. We are the ones who are remote and detached from it. However, God's favors are great. From us, the detached ones, the amount we can afford will be accepted. Nevertheless, we should seek as much as we can afford in action, in knowledge, in ethics and other things. If we go this much, paradise is there. However what the prophets pursued was not paradise and was beyond that. It was not paradise. It was not fear of the hell, nor love of the world. It was something beyond these goals. Well, we are short of these. However if we who are cognizant of these issues fail to strive and to act in accordance with superficial commands of prophets, to act according to the laws of Islam, right, this will follow the things pointed out in the Book Sunnah or tradition. I hope that God will grant us success to serve Islam and the servants of God. Serving the servants of God is serving God. I wish you success and hope that Islam will accept us to be Muslim and the holy Prophet will accept us in this day, this blessed day and Imam Sadiq (`a) will accept us.
