Speech [Necessity for defense until to repel mischief]

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

I hope that God will grant greater strength of spirit to all the gentlemen and all Islamic nations, particularly the people of Iran who have always been under oppression. I hope God will grant full power to you combatants to defend your country and Islam. I summarize my words in two sentences: Firstly, you should know that one who has ordered us is God. Commander of all is God. It is He who has made defense obligatory for repulsion of sedition. God has recommended and ordered killing for rebuffing mischief. God is the commander in chief and you should trust Him. Secondly, you are responsible to respond to Him and not others. We understand the outward aspects and no more. The whole world is like this. What is in the nature, mind and heart of people is revealed only to God and none else. Every hidden thing is disclosed before God. Hidden things are manifest before Him. There is no difference. You are responsible before Him. Here you can conceal what is in your heart and pretend to be selfless and dedicated. However, your commander is God who watches your hidden and manifest deeds. You should note that you are responsible before Him. Here one cannot act fraudulently. Never! Whether from army or Sepah and Basij and anyone else, you should regard yourselves as a power in Islam. When narration enjoins to be a single hand in dealing with disbeliever, it signifies to be a single power. Do not disperse your powers. Scattered powers will be afflicted by ideological disparity. The difference might be over other things and Satan might infiltrate him. However, when all of you decided to work for God and found that God has ordered to defend ourselves, our principles and Islam as substantiated by evidence and narrations, no longer one should regard one to be military man, army man, Sepahi and Basiji. These issues should no longer emerge.

You should all be together. Whenever you see some deficiency has befallen the other, you should help. If that one sees an imperfection in you, he should bring his power and instruments to help you. Like one who is bound to go and do something and thus concentrates all his forces on performing that work, he should help you. You should be a single entity, a single hand and a single power in order to save your country and above all Islam. You all know if God forbid Islam is defeated in Iran, defeat of Islam will not be compensated for centuries to come. This is something obvious. If you see all powers have mustered up all their forces and seek to prevent development of this revolution, it is because they see if Islam gains power it will not let them achieve their aspirations. Now you see thank God everywhere this subject is raised, since Islam is everywhere and people have been awakened everywhere. In Kremlin and the White House palaces people have become enlightened and are afraid. If the US says they should see what Islam is and wants to act as Islamist, it is because the US wants to understand Islam and explore ways to sap its progress. If in Kremlin it is said efforts should be made to wipe off the concept of God, it is because they know that reliance on God enables the believer to cope with them.

You who regard God and Islam and want to stay away from domination of other powers and do not want to be like parasite and they come to dominate our army and Sepah, if you are together you can do it. If you are separate, you cannot achieve this end. To be together enables to manage it. If so far whatever you have done, it has been because of acting in unison. Henceforth you should be together and rest assured that God Almighty would give you greater help if you are sincerely working for Him. As the gentleman said, we are nothing. Whatever exists is out of His power. We are nothing to be able to show power. We are obliged by God to defend. The mission we do is from God. Such is the case with regard to acts of worship. If God had not ordered man to perform act of worship, one could not do so. What am I to perform act of worship? Whom should I worship? If He has ordered to perform prayer, we say prayer. God has ordered to fast and we fast. God has ordered us to defend yourselves and we defend just as the prophets did. This is not inconsistent with the idea that everything is from God. If we defend, this defense is from God. Your power is not derived from anything else. So is your gun; it is from God. If for a single moment God's favor is lifted, there will remain nothing in the world. When such is the case, notice that you shoulder a heavy responsibility. Responsibility does not signify that we suffered defeat and then another government comes to power. Responsibility implies that Islam has suffered defeat and if Islam was defeated, it cannot raise its head for centuries to come and this is our responsibility.

If God forbid such a thing finds expression by creating different lines of thought, one will be accountable before God. Anyone who develops the idea in the depth of his essence to create a line to sap the progress of the army or the Sepah, this will be recorded before God who is aware of all intentions. Tomorrow in the next world your record will be given to your hand complaining that you were the one who put forward the evil idea and you were the one who developed such an idea in your heart. You should bear this in mind. Consider this responsibility and rely on God. You are powerful and your power has spread everywhere, stripping Saddam and his forces of sleep. They are tottering. The command numerous war instruments, but these instruments need man to use; they do not have the man, the right man. When in Iraq there is growing difference, you can proceed with power and carry out your plans. I pray for you every night. In special cases I pray for you. It is my duty to pray for Islam. To pray for Islam signifies praying for you. May God make you successful and sanctioned so that you would move forward with power. Do not fear any of these powers. Their words are louder than their action. I wish you success and prosperity.
