In His Most Exalted Name

My dear Ahmad,
I have just received your undated letter, which was apparently written in the early part of Muharram. Letters subsequent to this have also arrived. I am glad to know of your health. Praise be to God, the Exalted, we are all fine. The weather is very good. I am grateful to know that you are only engaged with your studies. May God, the Exalted, confer success upon you. Do not leave your uncle «1» alone. Of course, he should not have bad times. I hope for prayers from all of you. Give my regards to your uncle, all of the children and your wife. «2» May peace be upon you.
Your father
Today, Khanum has not eaten lettuce. Praise be to God, the other days that she did she was fine.
