The committed and combatant nation of Iran,
The Islamic republic is the product of your great struggles, and unstinting sacrifices of you, your children and the great martyrs. You were the ones who saved your beloved country from the captivity of the kings and the regime of the monarchy and their bloodthirsty executioners, with the power of your belief and your commitment to Islam. You were like the committed warriors of the early Islam and with this great revolution you freed your country from the domination of the superpowers and especially the treacherous America. You revived and revitalized the great Islam which had fallen victim to the corruption of the perverts and hypocrites and whose progressive rules were changed into selfish and ignorant rules and in the name of the true Islam, the true laws of Islam stipulated in the glorious Qur'an and been forgotten and you stood up against an all-out propaganda and military attack and in this two to three years you have traversed a one hundred-year-long path and you have disposed of all the obstacles and put to reality the Islamic Republic with all its institutions and thus you have given a new lease of life to your country and culture.
Now, you the dear ones must safeguard this precious investment and this divine trust which has been materialized by the blood of the saints of God and the great holy fighters of Islam and your beloved children, and with all the power of women, men, children, adults you must be diligent in preserving and safeguarding it with incessant and valiant struggles, and you must not let the extensive propaganda of the defeated which in itself is a sign of the glory of the Islamic Revolution and fear of the power-seeking invaders, shake your resolution and must march ahead with the same zeal and commitment and be sure that in the world you are victorious and you will be highly esteemed by God and respected by Islam and the great saints.
Now, after losing a highly esteemed soldier and a committed president of the republic Martyr Raja'i «1» - may God's mercy be upon him- we will go to the ballot boxes, it is imperative that the beloved nation keep its maturity, integrity and stability before God and the owner of Islam and before the world and before the bewildered enemies and those who wish the worst for Islam and who have leveled various accusations against you and call into question your loyalty and commitment to the Islamic Republic, and show more enthusiasm and unity with respect to this matter because preserving the image of the Islamic Republic and the image of the honorable nation hinges on it; so flock to the ballot boxes like rippling waves and give your vote to the person who is committed to Islam, who serves the nation and the country, who protects the poor, who has insight into the affairs of the world and religion, is devoid of any inclinations to the East and West and the perverted schools of thought, and has political insight. Today participating in the presidential election is not only a social and national duty, but also a religious, divine Islamic one. Failure is this duty leads to failure of the Islamic Republic, whose preservation is obligatory for all people, and dissuading people is one of the acts of the devil.
Brothers and sisters, deal with issues with great awareness and with political Islamic insight and avoid the inveiglement of the perverted elements, enemies of Islam and political dependents of foreigners because they want to undermine the foundations of the Islamic Republic by every means, and in getting what they want, they will take advantage of every opportunity and will not let you take part in this vital issue on which your character and country depends.
I request the great clerics, Friday and congregational prayer leader and committed speakers all over the country to familiarize the people with the importance of this vital issue, which is a matter of self-determination, and to guide them in their religious duty. I request writers, speakers, intellectuals, respected professors, teachers and scientists of the country whatever their leaning and affiliations might be, to pay attention to this very important point that if the Islamic Republic, which is the product of the suffering of oppressed masses, is defeated, God forbid, they should not think that in its place a more committed, more sympathetic, more nationalist and more Islamic system will come, and they should know for sure that a regime which is completely Western or American or Eastern communist will take its place with the help of one of the superpowers, which even may look Islamic and nationalist. In such a situation, any act of sabotage or even apathy will bring the country closer to two poles of the superpowers and will render the blood of the youths and the great efforts of the nation useless. I want the Islamic associations all over the country and wherever they are to acquaint whoever they are in touch with, with the significance of the matter. I hope God will grant success to the Islamic nation to make more efforts in furthering the objectives of Islam, and to grant success to all.
