Blood of the martyrs revives Islam
On the day of the martyrdom of Imam Jawad- may God's peace be upon him- one of the children and descendants of that family was martyred. Martyr Hashemi Nezhad «1» whom I closely knew and whose characteristics and commitment I had seen, was a man of virtue and struggle as being acknowledged by those knowing him.
Today, on the martyrdom day of the righteous predecessor, we lost this upright and committed descendant. I do not know what the motive of these weak and ignorant grouplets and agents of the big powers, especially America, is and what they want. They want to mislead the 36 million Iranians and millions of Muslims and oppressed people of the world, who back this republic, from the path of Islam by assassinating some officials. They do not understand that these great masses of people who are standing across the country like solid mountains against the big powers, will not succumb to lethargy and apathy by assassination of figures, however great and valued. On the contrary, they become more harmonious. They want to deal a blow to Islam by killing the offsprings of the prophet and cause the Imam of the Time (may God's peace be upon him) and believers go into mourning. Islam has offered such martyrs and even most sublime ones in its cause. Islam has sacrificed people like the honorable prophet and Commander of the Faithful (may God's peace be upon him), the Infallible Imams and prominent `ulama' throughout the course of history for this cause. There is no fear of losing these children of Islam for whom and the nation martyrdom is a source of pride. If measure is the goal and if measure is Islam and implementing the rules of the Qur'an, this goal is in place and each one of them who achieve martyrdom, it is useful for the goal, however unpleasant for us.
This goal which has been proceeding since the time of Adam to the present day has been favored by God, prophets and the saints of God. All of the prophets and saints have sacrificed for this goal and offer the lives of themselves and their children for this goal, which will not be lost by the inequities committed by corrupt groups. The combatant and honorable nation of Iran has been prepared to sacrifice everything for God. So, if they aim at destroying Islam, Islam will be revived by the blood of the martyrs. If their aim is to undermine the Islamic Republic, the Islamic Republic will be watered by this blood. If their aim is to serve America and the Soviet Union and their like, they should beg these powers for reward. God Almighty will shower His curse upon them and the nation will solicit eternal damnation for them.
While we grieve the martyrdom of such a brave, virtuous, and combatant scholar, losing such figures contributes to Islam, imprecates the opponents of Islam, and indicates their weakness. They want to serve the big powers at the time when they have been defeated as has the parasitic Saddam who will soon taste the final blow. By killing one of the children of the prophet, they want to protect Saddam against defeat. This is an illusion. Saddam has already been defeated; he is bereft of any prestige and honor; even if he had, he has lost it. They want to demoralize people in the presidential elections. Do they think that by killing one person, no matter how great and committed one might be, our people will discouraged from helping the Islamic Republic and going the ballot boxes? This is also an illusion. Our nation considers it a divine duty to go to the ballot boxes in great numbers on Friday and cast their vote to a committed person. They want to weaken our people's morale by killing one person, ten persons, one hundred persons or even one thousand persons. This is wishful thinking. They want to take revenge on the Messenger of God by martyring his children. They want to take revenge on the Messenger for having brought such a religion which is incompatible with their wishes. They do not want this religion to be put into practice in this country in the way desired by God and his Messenger. They want to take revenge on the originator of this religion by martyring his children. This vengeance is a disgrace to them, and causes no weakness in our nation.
I express my condolence as well as congratulation to the entire Iranian nation including the `ulama' and religious reference authorities, and especially the respected people and great `ulama' of Khorasan for offering such committed, knowledgeable `ulama' to further the cause of Islam and promote its commands.
Farming, the Prophets' profession
I would like to touch on another important point about the councils functioning all over the country including the farmers' councils. Farming in Islam is among very important professions, about which it has been said that farmers are the best people and that they are the closest people to God Almighty. Farmers in the next world will probably stand in the first row in the line of righteous people. Farming has been among professions in which all the prophets were engaged. Prophets earned their livelihood through farming. From the political perspective, if we work in a proper manner so as not to be reliant on foreigners for our foodstuffs, it amounts to struggle in the cause of God. As our great combatants are a source of pride in the warfronts, our formers are also like combatants behind the frontlines who try to cut dependence on other countries.
Figures indicate that, this year agriculture has been better than the previous year and the level of harvest has been higher. I hope that farmers will appreciate their own value. Every country needs agriculture that provides the country's foodstuffs more than anything else. You farmers are more valued than any other strata all over the country, because you meet the nation's need for sustenance which is of the highest needs. God willing, you will obtain self-sufficiency in such a way that we will not only be needless of any country, but we can also export this fruit of the farmers' labor to other countries.
Importance of presidential election
Another point is the election which I have already talked about and which I would like to reiterate. The entire nation should be aware that all this mischief in the country are meant to scare the voters away and weaken your resolve to serve Islam and Muslims. We should all be aware that this is a vital matter for the Islamic Republic. You see that in the previous election, 14 million people took part of whom 13 million cast their votes for Martyr Raja'i, yet those corrupt and bankrupt ones abroad had told in interviews that no more than two million votes had been cast. If your votes will be less than those in former elections the propaganda machinery run by the bankrupt fugitives will make a noise that Iran has turned his back to Islam and the Islamic Republic. They will have such propaganda everywhere, and it may help undermine the foundations of the Islamic Republic in the world. It is our duty not to let this revolution slacken so that it can achieve that final victory, and Islam and rules of the Qur'an are put into practice in this country in every sense.
One should be very sorry about these assassination and mischiefs occurred two days ago in Tehran. Unfortunately, young adults were lured to take to the streets to make mischief. One should feel sorry that our youth have been deceived in this way, that they take to the streets and set fire to public properties such as public buses, which belong to the oppressed people or set fire to something, which is for the deprived people. Do not these people who claim to be struggling for people and the oppressed masses think that what they have targeted belongs to the innocent people? They are in fact setting fire to things that belong to the oppressed people, the disabled and war-afflicted people.
Do not fear these bankrupt ones, who are breathing their last. The honorable nation of Iran has stood up against them powerfully. Likewise, the armed forces, the revolutionary guards, the Basij and the other armed forces that are from the people have stood up against the infidels and well as against those who are like or serve the infidels. Our revolutionary guards and our police forces will work hard to arrest them and bring them to the court to be punished.
God willing, you will soon witness that there will be no trace of these scums nor of the big powers in our country. We and you are prepared to render ineffective all these plots and, God willing, implement Islam in this country as it is. Muslims of the world will also implement Islam in their countries. The world will be the world of Islam, and oppression and tyranny will come to an end in the world. This will be a prelude to reappearance of the Imam of the Time (may our souls be sacrificed for him).
I beseech God to grant victory and success to the entire nation and the armed forces. I hope they will drive out these parasites and the duped ones from the country with all their power and might and thus strengthen Islam. I express my appreciation to the nation for standing with all the might and for making sacrifices behind the fronts. I hope God will grant happiness, health, dignity and resistance to all of them.
