Speech [Need to investigate and solve the problems of displaced people]

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

It is the grace of God that is behind the changes in the country. Do you think that if all humans came together to change a heart, they would succeed? It is God who changed the hearts of this nation overnight and persuaded them to stand up against the great satanic powers and cut off their hands from the country. It is the hand of God that took care of the displaced and the war-stricken people and helped them put up with the shortages and hardship, and even of help to others. It is the power of God that encourage you to serve the poor in the Foundation of the Deprived.

The providential hand of the Exalted and Omnipotent God made this people strong and changed it into divine people who rose up for God and who keep it up for God. They fight for God in the war fronts and render services for Him behind the fronts. It is for the sake of God that they work in the Foundation of the Deprived and for Him they endure hardship. It is the power of the Exalted God that made these young ones love martyrdom. These young people come here and insist that I pray for them to be martyred. I say to them to be successful and, God willing, you will get the reward of martyrs.

You who are in charge of the affairs of war-stricken people try to handle the problems efficiently. I know it is a very hard task and can not be done quickly. If the government wants to perform this task in a routine way, it will not have the ability to do it. It is again the hand of Providence that has persuaded the young to work for their war-affected brothers, sisters and children and to alleviate their troubles. Again it is the Exalted God Who made these war-stricken people help in performing the task and made them resist, though normally they should be discontented. Today, Mr. Mirsalim «1» informed me that these war-stricken people turned into a power against Saddam. This has been achieved by the divine grace, it will continue to be with us, and hopefully no harm will come to us.

Of course, we know that both in the activities of the Foundation for the Deprived and in running the affairs of the war-affected people there are some inadequacies. Moreover, there are devils who keep saying things with the intention of weakening these brothers who are working for God, but God has kept your hearts and made you wise up to their machinations, rendering these machinations ineffective and keeping you prepared. We are grateful to God that the whole nation men, women, the young and old have devoted themselves to serve Islam and will do so until the final victory is secured.

I know what our brothers and sisters in the south and the West are going through and it affects me. It affects all the believers and Muslims. But you should know that these helpless efforts which are contrary to the standards of all the countries of the world and contrary to the standards of all wars, and raiding cities from outside by missiles and such cowardly acts are sign of their weakness. Those who were driven out of Abadan and were disgracefully defeated and will be expelled from other places and defeated in the same way cannot confront us. They just fire missiles at houses, mosques, hospitals and places where innocent people live. But we are in the right and the Iranian nation is in the right and we have stood up against oppression. Right from the beginning, the Iranian nation rose up against oppression and atheism with a view to set up an Islamic Republic and to free themselves from foreign shackles. This is a divine purpose; this is the point that Islam has underlined.

You the brothers who are fighting in the theater, the brothers who suffered from the war and you brothers and sisters who have been bereaved know that all your sacrifices are for the sake of God and the Exalted God will make them up for you. I hope, God willing, that this war will soon be over that devastations incurred on us by these unbelievers will be addressed, the houses will be built better than before, and the normal life will resume for these dear Muslims and the people living in the south and west of the country.

The main point is that because we are in the right and we want to put into practice the Islamic rules, we will bear all these blows. We are not the only ones suffering these blows. Throughout history and from the time of Adam (peace be upon him) up to now, you see that all prophets, saints and the great religious men stood up against oppression and were hurt, burnt and hacked into two halves by axe. They did the same in Karbala and to the offspring of the Messenger of God, but because it was for God and because they were in the right, all problems seemed easy. Material problems pale before spirituality. Those who are equipped with spirituality and are connected to God and to the source of revelation cannot be distracted from their aim by material affairs.

I hope that you who are working for the oppressed people and war-stricken people will take into account that your motivations are Islamic-human. You should know that you are acting in obedience to the Exalted God for whom you have risen up and your reward will be equal to the reward of fifty, sixty years of worship. I hope this country which has come this far with this power, commitment and vigilance since the beginning of the revolution will remain so and this revolution will remain till the original owner comes and I, you and the nation will give him this trust.

You the committed people who work for the Exalted God should not get discouraged by such things as criticism which might be directed at you by some corrupt element whether in the Foundation of the Deprived or the Foundation of the war-stricken. You are doing this job for God and he, who does anything for God, is victorious. Do your jobs with power and attend to the affairs with power. You should know that attending to the affairs of the oppressed and the war-stricken people who are the servants of God and whom God takes care of, is a great act of worship. May God grant victory to all of you and patience to the war-affected and to those who have lost their young ones and their families.
