Speech [Explaining the results and blessings of the war - an advice to the Iraqi army and the governments of the region]

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

I pray for the arms and its personnel who have come from different places and thank them. There are many things which man does not like but when these things come true, one realizes some good in them. You might hate something that turns out to be good for you. «1» We and our Islamic nation have never been belligerent and violent. We hate this imposed war where two oppressed groups have been provoked by the arrogant superpowers, America and the deception of the Ba'ath Party to be at loggerheads. But you all know and the whole world knows that the Ba'ath Party, Saddam and his followers are to blame for this crime. Though we hate this war, we defend ourselves, our country and our religion as our human right. We defend ourselves against these superpowers.

This war broke out and has been going on for two years. It has had great fruits for us. We were unaware of these fruits at first, but gradually we realized the benefits of the imposed war. One of them is the unprecedented movement of our youths in the fronts and behind the fronts. Laxity and weakness which are characteristics of those who sit idle and do routine jobs. Today, our revolutionary guards, our Basij forces and our nation and tribal forces are active and on the move whether in the front of outside it and have stood up against all the adversities and they see them very pleasant because it is defense not aggression. A defensive war is a religious and human duty.

One of the things of which we were not conscious is that this blow which you the youths, our revolutionary guards and the other army forces dealt to the aggressors is a lesson to those who might nurture the notion of creating chaos in Iran. Is it good that we also launch an assault? Foreign propaganda, especially the propaganda of deviant radios such as BBC and Voice of America and other ones have painted an image of Iran as being chaotic and a place from which anyone can pick up whatever he wants, thus luring the unwise Saddam to renew the victory of Gadisiya «2». He was persuaded that Iran is an easy bite to swallow. Without being aware of the issues, this idiot prompted by his satanic vanity and the persuasions of the other devils attacked Iran. He did this insane act and got his punishment. He is still receiving punishment.

The victories you have secured and, God willing, you will further secure demonstrated the opposite of what the propaganda trumpets had spread. Most nations are aware of our conditions; but there might be a few which are still unaware. This war help the latter group understand that present Iran is stronger and more harmonious than in the past, even at a time when devilish rulers reigned. Today, Iran displays an integrated movement, an integrated activity and an integrated love for martyrdom and God. There was not such a thing in the former regimes. People were brought up in those regimes to think of who a nation should be like. Nationalism was in an object state, and the aliens laid their hands on every place in this country and everyone was either a nationalist or not. Today, Iran has demonstrated to be on the side of all the Islamic nations and the oppressed people of the world. We see ourselves as part of them and go to war against anyone who wants to attack Iran or other places. We think of the Islamic countries as part of us and think of ourselves as part of the Islamic nations. We want to make the command of God our meeting point «3» and to be one hand against the superpowers.

One of the things which happened in the imposed war is that our brave soldiers and great brave nation were able to demonstrate that no one can undermine this country and no one can harm it. My dear brothers, what is important for us all and for the Iranian nation is to turn towards God all the time, and not to forget that we initiated the movement and the revolution for God and should further if for the sake of God.

Now, sometimes when I look at the wills of some martyrs and at the situation in the war fronts or when I look at the slogans chanted in the fronts a little before martyrdom, I realize that this nation is a divine one. There is a difference between the people who stand up to say their prayers a night before they want to attack the army of the unbelievers and those who are brought to war under pressure who later become playthings. There is a difference between those who have risen up for God and those who have risen up for the devil. You are fighting for God which is a sign of faith while they are fighting for Satan which is a sign of unbelief. You will remain powerful as long as you take God into account and seek His help.

This unity of expression under the banner of monotheism and Islam will bring you victories. This call of God is great which you chant when you get ready for martyrdom is your support. Unseen soldiers in the early days of Islam were behind the victory of the small Islamic army over the huge army of Rome and over the huge army of Iran at the time. Today these unseen army of God support you. You rose up for God and against the unbelievers and the arrogants. So, rest assured that the unseen soldiers are on your side; they can help each one of you stand against so many soldiers of enemy. As you know, almost all countries support Saddam with their money, weapons and men. Fortunately, we do not need money, personnel or support of others. Since we trust God we do not need any support from anyone. We trust the Absolute Source. We do not need any financial support from anyone. We, who achieve victory with the call of" God is greatest" do not need anyone to be with us. We just want God to help us with these unseen soldiers and He will provided that we keep the covenant and commitment to Islam preserve the Islamic Republic and the Islamic rules. We should never forget that we are the servants of God and are moving in His direction. If we are destined to be martyred, it is happiness; if we are destined to win, it is also happiness.

Though we are not far from defeating the enemy, I consider it necessary to advise them. I advise the Iraqi army not to fight for the devil in vain, because this way they are standing themselves to hell. I advise those who support Saddam- governments of the region- not to take trouble to support the devil and to line up against Islam and the glorious Qur'an. I advise the Ba'ath Party that before they are forced to step down, they had better step down on their own accord. Saddam can go to Paris and there with his friends he will form a government. I consider it in their own interest not to continue wit such acts, not to go to great pains in rain and not to shed the blood of youths. We did not want the Iraqi nation and the Iranian nation to sustain such losses through devilish acts, behind which there are hands at work instigating them to attack.

What answer has Saddam prepared for the Iraqi army and their commanders? What answer has he provided to explain the loss of billions of dollars and then being forced to get loans from others? I advise all the governments of the region to stop supporting Saddam and to fear the day when God's wrath descends upon them. What befell Muhammad-Rida and Saddam may befall you too. O, Governments of the region! Fear God, wake up and do not stand up against Islam and the glorious Qur'an. All the nations in the region are Muslim and all want Islam. So why you, as a weak minority, stand up against Islam and the glorious Qur'an and spend all your capabilities to strengthen Saddam? I advise all of you. I advise all the governments to come back to the path of Islam and to fight the unbelievers, not Muslims; fight for God, not for the devil.

Today, if it has not downed on them that the plans given to them by America are against the interests of the region and Muslims, they must be very ignorant. America will in no way abandon its plans. America wants with all its power to create dispute among Muslims. You have seen how the last plan created disputes among Muslims' groups, among governments and more disputes will happen. If this plan does not get through, there will be another one. Muslims should realize that American plan is useless for the East, the Islamic nations and the Islamic governments. All Muslims should understand this. They should remind their own governments not to fall for American plans which appear one after the other and not to be taken in by these devils. They want to use you as instruments to get hold of your resources. America has a negative attitude towards you. It wants to use you for its interests as it has used you so far. Why do you spend your resources for the evil and ominous purpose of America? You see that the usurping government of Egypt flatly says that whoever brings up the name of Islam will be crushed. America looks at you as slaves to lead you where they want. If Saddam had had any sense, he would have turned down America when it told him to attack Iran. However, God removed their minds so that they act in ways against themselves, their countries and their nations.

I want all of the friends, brothers in the Iranian army and the revolutionary guard to understand that there should never be any dispute among you. Do not think the superpowers have left you alone to go on with your own life. They have a new scheme everyday and are waiting to create discord among you so that they can take advantage of it. You see that whenever the revolutionary guards, the army and the other forces come together, a great victory is achieved. You have seen how the unity of expression has won you victory over all the powers of the world. You have seen how you dragged Iran out of the clutches of America and established independence for yourselves. If discord creeps among you, and the Exalted God stops his blessings to us, we will retrogress to the same old conditions. You all women, men, the young and old should stay alert. Military and non-military people must stay alert because some corrupt elements may infiltrate their ranks and create discord stick together and be like one hand. It is an Islamic command. Do not let discord grow among you and stay united by the grace of God. Keep going ahead in the path of God so that you will be victorious.
