Setting the Prophet as example to tolerate difficulties
What is important is that our Islamic Revolution is a revolution accomplished by people. People have accomplished the revolution and people should consummate it. People have risen up, expelled the Shah, overthrown the regime and superseded it by the Islamic establishment in favor of the oppressed. Therefore, people should stand by what they have accomplished. The greater the act, the more and bigger the enemy will be.
Today, all propaganda horns are numerous against Islam and Iran in order to force Iran into compromise and surrender. Our revolution is enormous and not dependent on any power, neither Eastern nor Western power. The revolutions that occur in the world are affiliated to either of the two superpowers. However, the revolution of our revolutionary people relied on the people. Therefore, people should not complain of the aftermath of their revolution. Today, Iran has stood on its own feet; it should therefore endure the troubles and conspiracies. Our people should constantly remember the Holy Prophet of Islam. The holy Prophet rose up, resisted and sustained difficulties. In Mecca, he confronted with those troubles and took those pains in the siege of" The Shi`b." «1» In Medina, the even Prophet suffered agonies and afflictions throughout the rest of his life. when he was taken ill, the holy Prophet ordered the troops of Usamah «2» to move. We should also endure the troubles and pains triggered by the plots brewed by superpowers. We are bound to perform the divine command. We should not therefore fear hardships. Did the holy Prophet withdraw from hardships? Did he give in and compromise? We who are following the footstep of the prophets and the holy Messenger of Islam should stand and resist so that Islam and justice would be established and the oppressors would be defeated. This should be followed. People in the time of the holy Prophet and his companions put up resistance and did not fear hardships so as to emerge victorious. When we engage in this enterprise and decide to accomplish this ordeal, we should welcome its outcomes.
People should notice that they have accomplished a great work and that the enemy will leave no stone unturned to defeat them. People should stand firmly and steadfastly for freedom and independence. If we extend our hand towards the US or the Soviet Union, we will live in peace and comfort to the end. But our people do not want this dependence. Therefore, they should confront these plots more or less. In the early days of the war the enemy thought that the war would be finished in a few days. Now they see it is not the case and our Republic has been established and firmed. Today, the world, whether friend or enemy, has fixed eyes on Iran to see what Iran would do? In the past Iran was not under focus. There was the Shah who served the US that could tell him to act as per its desires every time. What about today? Today, the US and Soviet Union cannot give such orders to even a simple Iranian worker. Today, the world is faced with such a brave nation that has stood against all conspiracies and advanced, fulfilling its duties more efficiently. If you see a plane is hijacked, firstly in the US and other parts of the world such piracies are great in number. Hijacking a plane is not a hard job. One will threaten the pilot with a knife or at times simply browbeat and the pilot should protect the life of the passengers and listen to him assuming that his threats might be true. Today, the world is replete with riot, war explosion and air hijacking. Iran is more peaceful than many other countries of the world. Those who have not seen these things might say to themselves that one should compromise with the powers, but they should know that today compromise implies destruction till the end; it signifies burying Islam till the end of the world. People should stand firmly and defend Islam and the country and not fear the plots. If anyone were to retreat a step, it means we should quit Islam. However, our duty runs counter to compromise.
People launched the revolution and should put up the hardships. People should set prophets, the holy Prophet of Islam and Ibrahim as model and see what objections were raised to them but they did not quit their goals. If we are Muslims we should follow suit. To follow them does not mean simply fasting and saying prayers and attending the mosque. Following them signifies struggle for preservation of the fundamentals of Islam. One should resist to the end for preservation of the fundamentals of Islam.
On war, people should become more resolute and fulfill their duty in the" Week of War". May God sanction you! You will be victorious in this and other world. Your victory is exemplary. Put up resistance as your victory is over the two superpowers. Victory over one superpower with the support of the other one is not an important task. You should stand against both superpowers. People should stand against the two superpowers as they have and will stand without fearing anything. Saddam is nervous and might be staying up these nights. He constantly threatens that if Iran launches an offensive, he would hit Khark Island. If he can, he will not hesitate to level Khark to the ground any moment, but he is not able to do so. I wish you success. Do your propagation efforts sincerely and truly. Fulfill your works based on truth and sincerity and always consider the interests of Iran.
