Speech [Origin of emergence of the revolution, internal development of nation]

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

I congratulate this great feast, which is in fact a great Islamic feast to all Muslim nations and deprived people of the world. Congratulation to all oppressed people of the world, because this revolution is not an Iranian revolution. This revolution differs from other revolutions broken out in the world. The revolutions so far taken place in the world transfer the power from one powerful government or a tyrant to another tyrant or something similar to this development. Study the revolutions or coups accomplished in the world and see the situation there. Is it other than the fact that the revolution has been accomplished by deceiving the people, removing a power and bringing similar one to power? No improvement has been made in the status of nations, if not getting worse. This is the French revolution and that is the Russian revolution. Study these two and see what the situation has been prior to the revolution and what it is today. Has any improvement been made in the status of nations? Have they thought out any development for their nations or are they employing force and coercion? Prior to the revolution in Iran, an important revolution had already been made in the people. That inward revolution was the change in the attitude of people towards Islam that had been pushed into oblivion particularly in the recent centuries. There had remained nothing of Islam but a series of dull, rituals which had no, harm or benefit for others, not being concerned with the status of nations. This nation, by the will of God Almighty and His special favors, underwent an inner transformation first. The youth transformed from their former status to Islam and came to realize what Islam should be and what it should do. Subsequently, the revolution was accomplished. If that inner spiritual revolution had not been achieved, the revolution here would be like those in other countries. You see their situation. What was accomplished here and should be called miracle was the inner revolution of these people. The inner revolution in these people caused the emergence of this revolution. This inner revolution and people's understanding of Islam and their attention to God Almighty prompted the people's growing presence and commitment from the outset of the revolution up to the victory of the revolution, extending to the present time. It is not because of the revolution; it is because of the inner revolution. Revolutions have been everywhere. Many countries have launched revolution. This one is an inner revolution, transforming the people from the former situation people are aware of into the present situation. This contributed to the victory of the revolution. We should seek the causes of victory within the inner revolution of people. As long as this inner revolution is not accomplished, the revolutions will only be a transformation of power. The situation will remain as it was in pre-revolution period.

The gentlemen coming from abroad and I appreciate them should notice where in the world can they find such a meeting as held here. The farmer is sitting beside the president, prime minister beside the worker and all officials beside each other in a way that if one enter this session cannot know which is president, which is prime minister and which is farmer. Where can you find such a thing? It is this transformation that has caused the emergence of this miracle. Where can you find a president comes to sit beside a farmer? Wherever you study, you find that the president lives in a way that has no contact with people. They do not count people as human being. They see only themselves. We have experienced this in former regime and I witnessed the same situation since Qajar Dynasty and up to the time of Rida Khan and his corollaries and children in this country. I witnessed how a junior government treated people in a small village. People had no access to the government belonging to a village or a district. People could only see their pageantry from afar. When they took to the street, they had nothing to do with the people. They only relied on bayonet. Today the situation is the same in the world. It is not the case that at a session the prime minister and farmer and the president and the scholar can sit together. This development caused this victory to be achieved. I thank God for living among a people, as an individual and a servant of a nation that have gone spiritual development by the grace of God. It would be impossible for one to introduce such a transformation in any single person, let alone a whole nation, taking one from center of fornication to place of worship and mysticism and war against infidels. If all of us got together to transform 10 people like this, we would never be successful. This is a spiritual development introduced by God, as everything is in His hand. This development is unique in the world. Any government you notice in the course of history, any nation you notice in the course of history, the situation has been as it is. The gentlemen who have come from abroad should observe in this sense to undertake the training of their nation and make them revolutionize, and they shouldnot go after those who powerful to talk to them, they should understand the language of nation and talk to the nation. They should talk to the nation If they want get rid of this heavy burdon of offenses and crimes. It shouldnot be dealt in this way that you just come up to attend the anniversary of the victory of revolution and we all have a get together to have discussions. Think out the ways for some doings and once leave all is is over. If it goes in this way then we would not be able to do anything until the day of judgement. We shouldnot get satisfied with current situation and we should be concerned for future state of affairs. You have come here across the countries are witness and examining, and hearing the propogation launched against this nation. Wherever you examined this nation and all the cities, you moved out there, you have watchd and if God willing you will see in future whether they have been brought here by force or they themselves have come here. The foreign propaganda reflects that they have been brought here; the nation has been brought here! Which power can bring together the whole nation? A nation has been revolutionized, as it is conveyed to them that Divine law intends this or God has said in this way, or it is God who has brought the hearts together in such way.

It is said that Iran is isolated. They are still inculcating this idea. Do they mean that Iran is isolated from nations or governments? If it is meant nations, let them experience. Bring a number of cars and let the US president sit in one, the Soviet leader in one, French president in one, British queen in one and Iranian president in one and all go among the population. Let these cars move in the streets in the world. We do not say Iran. We go to Latin America or in England. Let us go to another country, even non-Muslim countries. We will see how people would treat these let us suppose leaders. Will they not treat the way the Pakistan people did with the president? «1» What about the others? They are treated with rotten eggs and with utmost resentment. If they mean we are isolated from people, let them come and experience this proposal. If they mean Iran is isolated from governments, today no government can be found expecting Iran to show leniency to it. Such is the US, the Soviet Union, France, etc. It is they who are isolated. These propaganda ploys are profusely aired and believed by some people. Previously, great people believed in this idea, but today in Iran the belief has diminished. Only a few people make believe and the masses of people no longer believe in propaganda rhetoric.

What I would like to tell the gentlemen who have come here from abroad is that do not come here and inspect and go back, sitting idle. Come to visit here. Go and inspect the situation of prisons, the Iraqi prisoners of war, the masses of people and farmers in remote villages and make comparison with the former regime. Consider the fact that we are today afflicted by the objections raised by governments, excluding a few of them. Nevertheless, in the course of the past few years since the victory of the revolution and considering the war embarked on the US, you see that since this nation has established a popular government, officials are from among the people. One has been from bazaar and has now become prime minister. One has been, let us suppose, farmer and has now become so and so. Where in the world can you find such a thing? Where can you find a theology student «2» becomes president or a man from bazaar becomes prime minister «3» or a farmer becomes so and so? The world is deprived of this model. This is because people have undergone development. These officials are from the people. Do not return to your countries and keep silent. Transform the people. You, gentlemen ought to move about and describe for them the situation of Iran. You must make objection on the mass media, which intends to put Islam aside. They have nothing to do with us yet they have at adversary with Islam, and this power is not of ours, if it were we, we couldnot be able to continue with our life even for a single day. This is the power of Islam, you ought to move about and convey them that it is the power of Islam, which you can never shatter. You should make objection over these who launch malevolence propaganda against Iran of such type of what Iran is doing. If recently you move among the people, whether they take to the streets and kill other people? Whether women in Iran have gone aside totally or they are playing their role in constructive works shoulder to shoulder with men? Do you want that the women of here also should become corrupt and in every mode, they want to turn out to be? It is against the transform, which has happened among the women themselves, it is against the evolution, which has taken place among our nation in the country. You should not become spectators as you to observe and then follow up with your own work and then we would not have to be concerned about it until the next year. You would be once again invited to move toward here, if it were repeated for a period of century then it would not have worth of nothing. If you have come up to here then you ought to point out the problems for your people and others, do not imagine that it is not possible, we have examined that it is achievable.

Have you imagined that Iran was such as in current state from very beginning? It had never been so, how much this nation have suffered, how much this nation has sacrificed their youths, how much this nation has sacrificed l of its belongings, and even it is sacrificing until now, it is due to that the nation has become awaken. It took a step forward for the sake of sake of God, the God Almighty also granted his favors. You move about and make your nation awaken, each of you located everywhere talk about the issues. Donot envisage that if you reveal the problems what your government would react, if it behaves so it would be better for you as you would earn more respect. If they exile you then you would be upper, if they imprison you then you would move about as greater. It is if you wish for the material world yet if it is for the sake of God then none should get scared of these things, you ought to make people familiar with God, make familiar with Islam

If you want to be a real man, have human value and your works to be for dignity, for humanity, for God and not for belly, you should abandon carnal passions. Satan will not let man alone. It has sworn with God and as I remember has browbeat God that it would not let man to elevate to high spiritual states, unless those who are your sincere servants. «4» You are faced with such a sworn enemy. When you return to your cities, challenge this enemy, enlighten the people on the fact that such an enemy exists within man's self and this inner enemy has caused the tyrannical outward enemies overcome us.

I hope that God Almighty grants spiritual power to all Muslim nations and oppressed people of the world so that they can dominate the tyrants and evils with that spiritual power. I hope that the gentlemen who have taken the trouble to come here from different cities and countries heed the developments in Iran and quote for their nations. They should convey the message of this nation to their own countries. Convey this fervor in this nation and the situation of this nation to their countries. We consider Iran to belong to all Muslim countries and vice versa. It is to be like this. We consider defense of all Muslims to be necessary. If we command the resources, we will challenge all tyrants of the world. We do not see any difference between the Muslim living in Ethiopia and the one living here. Islam has not let Muslims to make such differentiation. All people are equal. The only difference lies in taqwa or piety. You also recommend to your nations that they shouldnot give importance to the words being telecasted by foreign mass media as they want to drive you far-off from Islam. They want to convey you and make you examine that whenever they desire to act upon Islam in Iran, it is of the worst place from repression and oppression perspective, whenever people go to the streets their life is in danger and people are scared that the armed forces may reach and kill them. You should make people understand that such propaganda has launced to isolate Islam; it is not against me or likes of me but in opposition to Islam. As you, observe that our president was welcomed by Pakistani nation during his visit yet following to his visit a, pamphlet, book or a brochure was published with propagation purposes raised such queries, to whom belongs this decree, oh this had been issued by this one, by Khawja Nasiruddin «5» and he was cursed. What reason is behind all; the person through this plan was carried out if he is akhund, he is of pro-American, and has taken a seat in Pakistan and he is of such kind person. As he has observed that such scenario took place he was afraid of being Islam introduced there as it had been establish in Iran and it might draw closer toward there as well. Subsequent to all this, he planned to publish such a book.

In any case, our duty is great and heavy. To continue the revolution, we have many duties, the government, the president, Islamic Consultative Assembly speaker, farmer, worker and anyone at any corner in the country has a duty to fulfill with regard to preservation and continuation of this revolution. It is not the duty of one or two persons. The whole nation is duty bound to preserve the Islamic Republic. It is an `iyni obligation which signifies it is more important than prayer, because the former aims to preserve Islam, while prayer is a secondary principle of Islam. This duty is devolved upon all of us; there is no difference between Turk and Fars, Sistan and Balouchestan and so on. This is a duty upon the world people. Preservation of the right religion is a duty upon peoples of the world. It is topmost duty for the entire world. However, since non-Muslims do not believe in Islam, they argue that since Islam has made it obligatory, it has nothing to do with them. The Muslim who is in Africa is obliged to preserve the Islamic Republic because from there it will be reflected everywhere. It has already been started and will hopefully be reflected everywhere.

Today, the situation of the world has changed. Today, they are seeking to find an Islamist to see what the story is. This attempt is being pursued in the US as well. They think that if they learn a few matters from Islam, the question will be settled. They cannot understand the spirituality in Islam. They are seeking this. They thought that certain war broken out in Islam or certain event has taken place, the problems would be settled. Now they seek what the story is that has happened in Iran. Let us see what the story is. They do not know that they cannot understand these issues. They cannot basically understand spirituality. They have fixed their eyes on the glitters of the world and nothing else. If, God forbid, we are like these people to hold that I should be senior and you junior, we are more decadent than them. Since we are living in a Muslim country and at such juncture of time if we develop such an ethic, we will be more decadent than they will. May God grant us success to fulfill Islamic rituals! May God grant victory to our combatants and all Muslims over the oppressors!
