Non-affiliation of intelligence personnel to parties and groups

Among the prides of Islamic Republic is that religious and committed individuals and clerical personalities work in such ministry. All know Mr. Reyshahri, whose profession is different, but serving Islam is more necessary than all else, thus prompting him to relinquish his main job and get engaged in this sensitive job. I appreciate you gentlemen who are, God willing, committed.
The issue of intelligence is among the very important and sensitive affairs being concerned with everything of the people. You should know God is Omnipresent and All Observant. One may be able to conceal something from all, but everything will be preserved with God and reverts our acts toward us. You should be very alert. Of course, all should be attentive, but since you have a sensitive work, you should be more watchful. You should train your heart that everything you do you is in God's presence.
Another subject of importance is that all those who work in this ministry should not be engaged in any group or party. Affiliation with groups generates intellectual and practical affiliation and this runs counter to your work. You should be quite neutral; there should be no enmity, friendship, familiarity and estrangement at work. This job is replete with danger. As it is done for Islam, it is rewarding. You should think that if today you conceal a matter, what you will do tomorrow? The world is passing whether for the one who devours the world or for the pauper. One should think of tomorrow. Beware of acting in prejudice and tendencies, as this is dangerous for you and for people. In the first instance, it is threatening to oneself, but one is negligent. Involvement in a group naturally generates some kind of inclination to that group and contradicts the works you want to accomplish.

Intelligence forces should be independent, pure and pious

Intelligence forces should be independent, purified and pious. I hope that you will be like this and advice your friends lest they should act radically. Beware lest one should be in trouble unduly on account of extreme views. As regards the prisoners whose names have been given to Mr. Reyshahri, act immediately so that no one would be kept in prison with no reason. You should be careful in the affairs, because you have to deal with hypocrites and other groups. Today, our nation needs intelligence. Anyone who is more competent should participate in this affair. Islam obliges us to involve ourselves in this affair. To withdraw and seclude in the corner of house and only say prayer is of no avail. We should follow the footstep of prophets. The prophets and immaculate Imams (May God's peace be upon them) did not intend people to withdraw. They were with people and whenever they could, they would take over the government. Never tempt, as temptation is the work of Satan. One should act according to religious standards in any case and perform the right or pious act. I beseech God Almighty to grant you success, happiness and health. I hope the Wali ai-`Asr (Master of the Age) will support you?
May God's peace and mercy be upon you!
