Letter [to Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution]

«۱»- Members of the central board of selection of the ministry of culture and higher education and the Central Board of Selection and Central Council of Admission of Universities (Messers: Mahfouzi, Farhadi, Idrisiyan, Rahbar, Muzaffari, Zahidi, Mousawi-Nejad) in a letter dated ۱۶/۱۲/۱۳۶۳ to Imam Khomeini stated:" In his Excellency's life-inspiring message in ۲۲ Bahman underlined the significance of universities next to the imposed war. Unfortunately, however, it is observed that the current trend of universities and higher education training centers is such that they are ushering us towards Westernized and Easternized ideas and making us more dependent on remnants of the taghout (literally meaning arrogant) culture." At the end of the letter we read:" Issues such as elimination of committed and Muslim university forces at all levels from the scene of training and cultural activities has found expression overtly. As the result of this elimination, corruption and Westernized mentality are obviously on the increase. As noted in the beginning of the letter we consider the future of cultural and university affairs of the country to be exposed to serious threat. This state of affairs is the result of the weakness and inattention of the concerned ministry's officials and directors of university affairs. Therefore, we ventured to because you inconvenience by taking your precious time. It is hoped that our dear Imam considers the statements made from perspective of our sincerity and honesty and guide us as before."
