Presence of the youth for defending Islam
What is my duty is to pray for you, particularly you who have accepted the trouble.
The question of Basij is the one underscored in early days of Islam. When war broke out, different tribes came together and participated in war. This is not a new thing and has had precedent in Islam. Since our purpose is Islam, each and every youth should be a force for defending Islam. All people and anyone in any capacity should be prepared for preventing disbelief, blasphemy and attack of aliens.
During the time I have heard issues from Basij, I have heard good things about it. Your activities have been good and I hope will become better. There are, of course, difficulties in every matter that should be removed. That which is important for us is that our youth across the country have felt that they should prevent any threat coming about. They should not seek foreign countries to serve them. Iran's privilege as compared to other places lies in the fact that Iran has not so far stretched its hands towards others neither for material nor other things. Iran has stood on its own feet and defends by relying on God. This is the right thing to do. One who comes from abroad does not come to fight. As we observe, troops from Jordan and so and so country come to help Saddam, but these individuals are more inefficient than those living in Iraq and are not ready to lose their lives for Saddam. However, in our country, as far as Islam and sacrifice in the cause of Islam is concerned, people are all Prepared, because our people know that in the early days of Islam the Prophet and Immaculate Imams made those sacrifices and Muslims of the early days of Islam were active and fought those battles despite their small number. Thank God, in our country people predominantly feel that they are serving Islam and their country.
Conceit and selfishness, source of man's defeat
You gentlemen, particularly the clerics, purify people and the youth as much as you can. Awaken them that when we work for Islam, we should do so in purified manner because if God forbid our works are coupled with selfishness and conceit, this will be the origin of man's defeat. We should trust God and serve Him, a service that would be rendered as an act of worship. The individuals who are serving in Basij and other places are serving God and performing act of worship. Basij is a very important and good enterprise.
I hope that you and those who are engaged in this center will advance the works seriously and Iran would develop into a country where people would be ready for defense any day it was announced and anywhere they are engaged with one's own business. Such a country will never suffer harm. I implore God to make you successful. I hope you are sanctioned. I will pray for you.
